Dr. Armbruster's Laboratory
Playful interactive performances set the stage for unconventional works on paper and constructed installations in the body of work telling the story of Dr. Armbruster. The “Dr. Armbruster Laboratories” series is built around the story world of a fictitious scientist studying paint drips as though they are living creatures. The artworks are born from translations and analyses of marks, dribbles, and errant designs, exploring the beauty of curious scrutiny.
Absurd and often humorous, the attempt to illustrate fragments of this researcher's frustrated infatuation with paint drips is Garubba's love letter to people who see universes in the mundane. Scientific research can be creative, and art can be analytical. Both are expressions of humans trying to touch their world and perhaps understand it better. These are works meant to illuminate these truths.
