The role of an educating artist is one which I take very seriously in all of its dimensions. In my career, I have been equally devoted to both my craft as a professional visual artist and my craft as a teacher to students from elementary age through college level.
In my time teaching art and working as an artist, I have discovered that my love for classroom interactions fuels my art-making and vice-versa. The career I would like to have and the life I would like to lead is one enriched by sharing experiences, finding understanding, and guiding others to discovery.
I believe that some of the most important lessons learned in any classroom are the transferable skills that support a successful individual, and the human values that support a fulfilling social life. Art can be a conduit to many forms of joy, peace, and knowledge.
I strive to bring the same passion for creative expression to my teaching that I would bring to my own artwork.
